Alex Beaton:  A very popular Scottish folksinger, whose repertoire includes a wide range of music from poignant ballads to rousing Celtic classics.  Spend some time immersed in the sounds of Scotland, and learn more about the land that gave birth to our ancestors. A natural outlet for his music is the Highland Games that can be found all over the continent, wherever there are people of Scottish heritage.

themidgies.co.uk he Glenhoulachan Midgie Club Ceilidh Band was formed a number of years ago when Gordon joined Billy and John to cover a couple of gigs in the local town hall. The band was only ever meant to last a few weeks, but here we are, hundreds of ceilidhs and concerts later; still struttin' our stuff. Like they say "practice makes perfect"

Albion Seed Grows in the Cumberland Gap:  Good "essay" on cultures and clan systems that migrated to America.  "Regionalism is not unique to America. Geopolitics creates regional distinctions around the world. Great Britain is no exception. Due to constant battles between Scotland and England, the borderlands between the two countries developed a distinctive culture in the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries. This culture arose from the unstable world of violence and transience there... The Cumberland Gap of Kentucky is a good example of the borderland-derived, backcountry culture."  Created by E. Semancik for The American Studies Program at the University of Virginia.

CASTLES

Innis Chonnel Castle Innis Chonnel was one of the earliest Campbell strongholds, certainly from as early as 1308 until the present day.

Cawdor Castle  Cawdor, originally Calder or Caddel, had been a Thanedom to the east of Inverness for centuries before the castle was built. The site for the original castle was on the level top of a steep and rocky bank sloping down to the Cawdor Burn, a tributary of the River Nairn.
